For descriptions of all riding areas, please visit our Maps page. Hope Valley There are several great areas with or without groomed trails where you can go with your rented snowmobiles. One favorite is Hope Valley (see map) which is located approximately 20 minutes south of Lake Tahoe along Hwy 88 toward Kirkwood. Hope Valley offers fantastic views of the Sierras without even leaving the groomed trailsystem. Hope Valley has many big meadows to play in and areas that will offer any rider plenty of opportunity for own exploring. Spooner Summit/Kingsbury Grade Another easily accessible area is Spooner Summit wich offers spectacular views of Lake Tahoe and Carson Valley. Located only 15 minutes from the casinos at Stateline is one of the most beautiful areas you easily can explore with a snowmobile. The area is located on the ridge that separates Lake Tahoe from the Carson Valley, between Spooner Summit and Kingsbury Grade on Lake Tahoe's east shore.
You park your vehicle and unload your snowmobiles at the end of North Benjamin which is located off of Kingsbury Grade (Hwy 207) or you can also park at Spooner Summit on Hwy 50. Once on your snowmobile, you take the trail at the end of the parking and let the adventure begin!
The trail is nice and easy to ride, still, experienced riders will find plenty of opportunities to take off on "side trails" with various levels of challenges.
Without too much effort, you can reach some of the higher peaks and enjoy the view in every direction. On a clear day (which is almost every day here in Lake Tahoe) you can see the entire Lake Tahoe and Emerald Bay as well as Carson Valley in Nevada and other mountain ranges that are up to 150 miles away.
Snowmobiling is family fun for all ages. Just remember to outfit everyone with appropriate clothes, helmet and other protective gear.
Don't forget to pack plenty of water and a snack to enjoy while you're taking in one of the most fantastic views in the US (or perhaps the world!).
